Mother’s Day Video
In my previous post, I mentioned I really enjoyed watching videos on the Internet. Sometimes finding a good video on youtube is like finding a needle in a haystack but I come across some really good videos from time to time. My husband found this one several months ago, and it is the storytelling of a Robert Munsch classic Love You Forever. After watching this video, I thought it would be a great video to send to my mom on Mother’s Day but the video is great for other reasons as well. One of those includes the representation of a variety of family groupings: mothers, daughters, son(s), or siblings reading the book together. On the downside, there are a few age groups missing. Another reason I think it is a great video is because there are people of non-white ethnic groups reading the book- the book’s illustrations have all white characters. Additionally, the people reading the book are not stereotypically sounding or looking (in regards to clothing). Lastly, I really like the video editing, the song, which is sung by one of the readers, the flashes of the book’s illustrations, and the dedications at the end. I would definitely use this video in the classroom.
