I am in third year of elementary education (PreK-3).
I have worked for nine years, in a preschool, with 3, 4 and 5 year olds.
I started this blog for an ECMP 355 assignment and have been inspired by the possibilities of technology in classrooms, even with young students.
I have a Certificate and Diploma in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Program at SIAST, in Regina.
I have a AMS Montessori (Age 3-5) teaching certificate from NEMTEC.
I have a strong desire to learn and include many Early Childhood pedagogy in my practice; many principles from different practises overlap.
While completing a two week practicum, in 1998 at the Early Learning Center in Regina, I observed their implementation of the High/Scope Perry pedagogy.
Currently, I have a strong interest in the Reggio Emilia approach. I have completed a Reggio Class (ECE 445) at the University of Regina and would like to take a study tour of Reggio Emilia.
I have a passionate interest in how students learn.
Personal
I was a sound technician, stage manager, and student director in my high school drama club.
I enjoy outdoor and indoor physical activity. I have played competitive sports but now mostly recreational.
I am a pre-service teacher at the University of Regina, and I am currently in my third year. This weblog, which began as an education computer's assignment, will now become a space to record my reflections, ideas, and emerging portfolio. Let me know what you think!
